The JUNIOR WATER JUMP is water-related startup competition focusing on solutions with initial evidence to assess, to reduce and/or to avoid pollutants, pathogens and antimicrobial resistant bacteria in the water cycle.

The competition is aligned with European Water Flagship-Event, the 3rd Water JPI Conference in Muelheim/Ruhr (Germany), on November 17th, 2021.

Who is invited?

The competition is aimed at innovators and startup companies with “Marketable and efficient solutions for the control of pollutants, pathogens and antimicrobial resistances in the water cycle”. Digital solutions or significant digital parts of a solution are of special interest. Due to COVID-19, the event will take place hybrid, i.e., as a presence event and in the form of an online transmission. Regarding the presence event special hygienic rules and restrictions have to be considered

What awaits the winners?

  • 1. Price: 13.000 Euro for the winner (jointly by RWW and SKION Water)
  • 2. Price: One day independent Innovation Consulting with highly skilled team of engineers and scientists (by Isle Utitilies)
  • For all: the opportunity to attract involved investors and hubs and significant reach within the water industry and governmental participants at the Water JPI Conference

Who are the supporters?

The 3rd Water JPI Conference as anchor-event is hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The Junior Water Jump is organized by RWW Rheinisch-Westfälische Wasserwerksgesellschaft mbH.

What are the eligibility criteria?

The competition is looking for projects, technologies, methods, and tools that are at least in the Technology Readiness Level Five (TLR5 – System/subsystem/component validation in relevant environment).

The solution must comprise a market innovation that leads to a significant competitive advantage over potential competitors. The nature of the competitive advantage and the innovation must be explained.
